Benefits of Water Features
Imagine water drops racing down to the bottom of your new water feature, soothing and calming you with every drop of water. Water Features are as soothing and pleasent as they are hypnotizing. Much like aquariums, water features truly dazzle anyone lucky enough to catch a glimpse of the beauty that they offer. The soothing and stress reduction benefits from water features is observed instantly. A new atmosphere and environment are just a trickle away!
Accents in Water has developed a revolutionary new water feature that has the ability to filter the air. The benefits to this new generation of water features have been scientifically proven.
Overview of the University of Colorado Clean Air and Clean Water Studies
Accents
In Water's® product design team continues to work on developing water
features that require less maintenance and contains pathogen free
water. We have concluded studies on our patent pending PathoBan AG254™
Anit-bacterial System* in cooperation with Dr. Mark Hern
andez, Ph.D,
PE, Principal Investigator, to identify the impact that a water feature
has on its environment. The studies were performed at the University of
Colorado at Boulder’s Level 3 Lab in the Department of Civil,
Environmental, and Architectural Engineering.
*PathoBan
AG254™ Anti-bacterial System is the combination of a patented
inorganic, anti-micorbial coating and ultraviolet steriliziation to
inhibit the growth of and over the course of time kill bacteria,
viruses, and other microorganisms that are trapped in the water.

Clean Air Summary
This study utilized the following aerosolized pathogens:
Bacillus subtilis (non pathogenic Anthrax)
Mycobacterium avium (non pathogenic Tuberculosis)
The objective of this study was to measure the effective Clean Air Delivery Rate (CADR) of Accents
In Water water features. The CADR testing was structured to measure the rate at which a water
feature can render the environment free of airborne pathogens over a measured amount of time.
Clean Air Delivery Rates are surprisingly effective and vary based on the size of the water feature.
A 4' x 8' water feature will effectively clean 30 cubic meters of air per hour. Please see the study
results for further clarification.

of Colorado at Boulder, College of Engineering and Applied Science.

Clean Water Summary
This study utilized the following aerosolized pathogens:
Mycrobacterium avium (non pathogenic Tuberculosis)
Legionella pneumophila (non pathogenic Legionaires disease)
Staphylococcus aureus (non pathogenic Staph)
High levels of the above pathogens were aerosolized and introduced into a contained environment
in 3 independent trials. Once electrostatically captured and contained within the body of water, the
pathogen deactivation rate was consistently measured as 99% effective in a single pass.

Saniguard Study
All water features manufactured by Accents In Water are treated with Saniguard, the only
anti-microbial treatment that meets the National Sanitation Foundation stringent
requirements for anti-microbial efficacy.
Saniguard is a sodium activated silver compound which disallows microbial growth on treated
surfaces. When combined with the use of ultraviolet sterilization, it creates a highly effective
system that protects against microbial growth in the water feature.
